December 3rd is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, let us pay tribute to the quiet brave ones who daily bear the burden of our social world, with the "valid" people and their practical activities!

December 3 - Heroic Mothers' Day!

On December 3 - World Day of Persons with Disabilities, I thought of Thomas Edison, his story and his heroic mother, who "turned around" his fate and that of humanity...

Once a little boy returned home from school and handed his mother a letter from the teacher. For no apparent reason, the mother burst into tears, and then read the letter aloud to her son:

"Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and there is no teacher capable of teaching him anything. Please teach him yourself."

Many years after the mother's death, the grown-up son was looking through the old family archives and came across the same letter. He opened it and read it:

“Your son is mentally retarded. We can no longer teach him in this school with everyone else. Therefore, we recommend that you teach him independently at home.”

This child’s name was Thomas Edison and he later became one of the great inventors of the 20th century.
Edison cried for several hours. Then he wrote in his diary:

“Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally retarded child. Thanks to his heroic mother, he became one of the great geniuses of his century.”

Today is another day in which I pay my respect to the different and their strength to endure the norms of our social world on a daily basis – lies, hypocrisy, betrayals and conformity!

Hats off!
