ABA Center for Applied Behavior Analysis - Sofia - Gorublyane
Recognizing the high demand and increasing number of children with autism in Bulgaria, the Autism Today Association established the first center for Applied Behavior Analysis!
On September 29, 2015, the Mayor of Sofia officially opened the First Center for behavioral therapy in Bulgaria!
The building in Gorublyane district was provided by the Sofia Municipality but was renovated with the efforts, donations, and big hearts of many friends of the cause and the association.
Scientific achievements found their place in Bulgaria, and parents not just from Sofia but from all over Bulgaria started moving closer to the center to give their children access to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy.
ABA is the most powerful tool globally with scientifically proven value, modifying the behavior of children with autistic and problematic behaviors toward socially acceptable norms. The science of ABA uses stimuli, rewarding socially acceptable behavior and withholding stimuli for unacceptable behavior.
Starting behavioral therapy at a very young age, before and shortly after the child's second birthday, as soon as the first markers are noticed, gives children a chance to improve their communication and social skills to such an extent that they no longer need behavioral therapy and additional support by the age of five.
The earlier behavioral therapy starts with a child, the better their achievements and the greater their chance of achieving an independent and dignified life.
But regardless of age, behavioral therapy helps children reach their maximum potential and improves their communication and social skills.
The service provided by the Autism Today Association in Bulgaria is: High-quality therapeutic care for children with autism spectrum disorder - Applied Behavior Analysis, with specialists working under continuous supervision by a representative of the American Board of Behavioral Therapists.
Every month, they discuss with their supervisors the program for each child, their progress, reassessment, and program changes upon achieving set goals.
The center provides comprehensive services, combining behavioral therapy with the work of occupational therapists and speech therapists, who also receive monthly supervision from highly qualified supervisors, ensuring the provision of the highest quality therapeutic care for children with autism in Bulgaria.
