Who are we?

Autism Today Association

The "Autism Today" Association was founded by specialists in the field of applied behavior analysis, public figures, and parents of children with autism.

The mission of the organization is to train specialists and create a professional community in Bulgaria for working with children with autism, using scientifically proven methods and adhering to global and European professional and ethical standards of practice.

Recognizing the high need in our country and based on global statistics, due to the lack of such for Bulgaria, we have taken on the challenge of establishing Training Centers for Applied Behavior Analysts in Bulgaria, providing opportunities for professional development and acquisition of know-how in a field previously unknown in Bulgaria.

Thus, we have fulfilled the dreams of generations of parents!

Main goals of the association:

1. To create conditions for the prevention and therapy of children on the autism spectrum.
2. To work for access for more children on the autism spectrum to specialists for their integration and inclusion in society.
3. To support the effective integration of children and young people with autism spectrum disorders to improve their way of life and ensure their dignified existence, realization, and opportunities.
4. To work on changing the attitudes and perceptions of society towards children with autism spectrum disorders by raising awareness of their issues through information campaigns, concerts, events, and organizing public discussions and seminars.
5. To organize events to ensure public support and awareness of society.
6. To prepare proposals for changes in the legislative framework in the fields of education, social, and health sectors of the Republic of Bulgaria to introduce good European and global practices, in the interest of autistic individuals and their families.
7. To work towards the creation of unified standards for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
8. To work on creating a unified database for children and young people with autism spectrum disorders.
9. To organize training for therapists, specialists, and teachers engaged in therapeutic care and education for children with autism spectrum disorders to enhance their qualifications.
10. To establish contacts with international organizations, specialists, and therapists to bring positive experiences to Bulgaria.
11. To work to provide moral, physical, and psychological support to the families of children with autism spectrum disorders, to ensure a dignified and independent life for the children and their families.
12. To work to provide access to quality education for children on the autism spectrum in Bulgaria, tailored to the individual needs and requirements of the children - to achieve the maximum potential of each child on the autism spectrum in Bulgaria.
13. To work to provide quality social and healthcare, and an independent and dignified life for children, young people, and autistic individuals in Bulgaria, as well as their families.
14. To defend the rights of autistic individuals and their families in the Republic of Bulgaria from discrimination and segregation.
15. To carry out joint activities with other organizations in the country and abroad for the exchange of experience and mutual cooperation.

We, from the "Autism Today" association, have dedicated every day of the past 8 years to supporting the development and well-being of children with autism through professional educational assistance, care, and love. We are also committed to bringing hope and reassurance to the parents of these children, so they know that in Bulgaria, they have allies who support their efforts to provide the happiest possible present and the best possible future for their children!
In these 8 years, we have established four specialized centers for professional assistance (two in Sofia, one in Pleven, and since 2022, one in Burgas) for children with autism, where more than 200 children per month and over 1,000 children per year receive the highest quality therapeutic support!
